FAQ

Our flavor speaks for itself. However, if you find you want to delve deeper into the history of the Andes, check out some frequently asked questions below.

Why is it called Andino Farms? The name "Andino" comes from the Spanish word for that which originates in the Andes mountains, a mountain range that spans the entire Western coast of South America. The flavors of our signature sauce originate in the northermost section of the Andes mountains, on the Western boarder of Venezuela. We decided to name our company Andino Farms to represent our commitment to fresh and authentic flavors and ingredients.

Why is it called Picantico Andino? "Picantico Andino" directly translates to a mildly spicy Andean hot sauce. Adding the suffix "-ico" to words occasionally adds an endearing tone to an object, which those at Andino Farms definitely feel towards our special recipe.

How spicy is Picantico Andino? Our sauces' main purpose is to enhance the flavor of food, not to make it spicy. The heat in our mild sauce comes from jalapeño peppers, which only range from 2,500 to 8,000 Scoville heat units (SHU). The heat in our spicy sauce comes from Chile de Arbol peppers, which range from 15,000 to 30,000 SHU. Both sauces can be eaten in any way, from little dabs of garnish to heaping spoonfuls of dip. The recipes allow for buildable heat to meet all ranges of heat tolerance.

Do you accept ideas or suggestions, including for new products? Andino Farms is a growing business that will gladly welcome all legitimate and well-intentioned feedback and suggestions for current and future products, advertising, and management.

Is Picantico Andino gluten-free? Our sauces consist entirely of vegetables, vinegar, olive oil, and spices, and are naturally gluten-free and vegan.

Does Picantico Andino need to be refrigerated? Our sauces do not need to be refrigerated after opening. However, refrigeration after opening may extend shelf life. Our founder believes the sauce is best served and maintained at room-temperature.

Is the packaging for Picantico Andino recyclable? Yes, our sauce is packaged in a glass jar with a gold aluminum lid which makes it 100% recyclable. Contact your local recycling center to learn more.

Can I reference Picantico Andino in a recipe I am featuring? Yes, as long as you comply with the following guidelines in terms of trademark usage.
